The North Carolina Department of Insurance Bail Bond Regulatory Division has reported a new scam targeting families of individuals being held in detention facilities across the state.

Four individuals were arrested in Harrisburg on February 13 in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier that morning in Concord, N.C. Police responded to a shooting on Alberta Court, near Old Charlotte Road, at approximately 10 a.m. and found a victim who was taken to the hospital. The suspect vehicle was later spotted by Cabarrus County Sheriff’s deputies during a patrol in Harrisburg. The four individuals were taken into custody and transferred to Concord police. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of those arrested or the charges they face. Further details remain unavailable.

KANNAPOLIS — A woman has been charged with the murder of her 4-year-old niece after autopsy results were released. Police responded to an emergency call on Old Rivers Road on Nov. 19, finding the child deceased. Vanity Rubystine Williams, 31, was initially charged with felony child abuse on Nov. 20, after it was confirmed the child had been in her care since October. Following preliminary autopsy findings on Nov. 23, Williams was charged with first-degree murder. She is currently in the Cabarrus County jail.
